BLOOD PRESSURE Called Green Gold for thousands of years in Southern China, this herb is popularly used to maintain good health through its actions to reduce blood lipids, blood pressure and body weight. USAGE: A general health enhancer that lowers blood pressure and level of lipids in blood, and reduces body weight. Especially indicated for people with high blood pressure. INGREDIENTS: Extract of Ku Ding, Ilex Kudingcha. PRESENTATION: Capsules of 0.3 gm, 100 capsules per bottle. DIRECTIONS: 3 capsules 2 times a day. LABORATORY TESTS: 1) Reduces lipids in the blood: Experiments with rats given Kuding showed significantly reduced TG lipid levels (p<0.01) and also significantly increased HDL-C levels (p<0.05) 2) Reduces weight. The result of comparing the subcutaneous fat index (g/100g) for a group of rats given Kuding for 14 days to a comparison group was 0.862 vs 1.426 (p<0.01) The test showed that there was significantly thinner subcutaneous fat in the Kuding group. 3) Reduces blood pressure: Experiments with animals given Kuding showed significant blood pressure reduction after 1 hour and 3 hours. BP went from 25.0 +-1.5 to 18.7 +-1.3 kpa. This was a 25.6% reduction. After 3-5 hours blood pressure reduced further, from 25.3 +-1.5 to 17.20 kpa, a 31.2% reduction, that is, a further 6%. 4) Used over 10 days, blood pressure was reduced 33.2% to 36.4% (p<0.001). In clinical applications, patients with light hypertension or high blood lipids can use this formula as treatment. For patients with moderate or severe hypertension and high blood lipids, this needs to be a supplemental treatment with other herbs or medications. Kudingcha is very useful for patients with heachache, restlessness, and thirst and feeling overheated. Toxicity is very low with an LD50 is 10g/kg.
