Nolo's DealMaker Updates |
||
THE LATEST VERSION is 2.6 Download nowRegistered users: the latest download will install over an earlier version without disturbing your data, but maybe back up data first just to be safe. The new version will be registered if you are registered now. Check for updates. DealMaker has an Update Checker
under the Help menu that can be used manually or set to check automatically. Either way, we
expect updates now and then, so check regularly to make sure you always have the latest version
and look here to see what has changed whenever you get updated. Entry fields sticky. Some entry fields on Screen 1 were difficult to use. Fixed. Alimony/Spousal/Partner Support. In some cases, when changes regarding the state or nature of case were made on Screen 1, DealMaker would not always updated to the correct terminology in the agreement. This has been fixed. Accidental crashes. If user (for some odd reason) were to click twice in the left column outside the button areas, DealMaker could crash. Fixed. Chuld support declarations. DealMaker would sometimes reference California code even in cases outside California. This has been fixed. Dialogs/popus on some computers would not scale properly so that text would run off the visible area. This has been fixed. Menu items can now be opened by pressing Alt plus the first letter of the menu you want to open. Screen 8, line A3. Indication that agreed child support is above or below the state guideline would produce the opposite result in the agreement. Fixed. Typo fixed. Minor typo fix where two words ran together. Where? Use your spell checker or produce agreement again with this version. Hint: it was burried in the child support section. New installations. Earlier versions would crash when attempting to install on machines that had never had DealMaker installed previously. This has been fixed. The Notary Acknowledgments—CA. Effective January 1, 2008, California requires different language for the Acknowledgement, so this new language was added to the Notary page following the signature page. Other states. All notaries have acknowledgment forms, so if ever a notary is not satisfied with DealMaker's language, they will substitute their own form and attach it either in the same location or at the end of the agreement. This is perfectly valid. Nicknames. DM could intermittently switch the nicknames about. This has been fixed. Exhibit error checking. Screens III and IV. If the user enters items in a property list without checking the related box, DealMaker would behave inconsistently by producing the Exhbit and entering it in the list of attachments under the signatures with an incorrect item number, but language related to the Exhibit would not appear in the agreement. In this version, DealMaker will not produce a property list exhibit or use language related to it unless the related box has been checked. RTF formatting. New entries in help files explain that DM's RTF output is completely formatted, but low-end text processors do not implement RTF formatting, so if you do not have a full-featured word processor, you will have to enter footers and page numbers manually. As a model for how footers should look, use File View Agreement and copy the appearance as you see it on your screen. Typos fixed. "Separate" is now spelled correctly and spaces were added in two places where words ran together.
Editable output. DealMaker can now save agreements in RTF format, which can be edited in any word processor. Valid in all 50 states. DealMaker can now produce agreements that are valid in every state. It is important to follow the instructions in the Help files. Updated help files. DealMaker help files have been updated, improved, and are now compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and NT.
Tax refund. In Section IX - Taxes, if you indicated that refunds were to be divided for some particular tax year, DealMaker failed to insert the year in the printout. This has been fixed.
Pension funds. Added a warning prior to printing when the account and transfer information is incomplete. Transfer of interest in a pension fund. Added a warning prior to printing when no waiver type is selected for the transfer of a pension fund. |
